💪 Chiefs Closing in on George Karlaftis Extension
With Trey Smith’s deal officially done, the Chiefs are wasting no time. Sources say the team is nearing an extension with EDGE George Karlaftis, with serious momentum to get the deal finalized during training camp.
“Furious George” led the Chiefs in sacks last year and has developed into a cornerstone of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. Locking him up now keeps KC’s D-line dominant for years to come.

💥 What Exactly Is a Sack… and Why Are Some Only Worth “Half”?
In football, a sack happens when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage before they can throw a pass. It’s a huge momentum-shifter — it loses yards, kills drives, and gets the crowd fired up. 🔥
But sometimes, you’ll see a player get “0.5 sacks” instead of a full one. Why?
👥 Shared Sacks 101:
If two defenders tackle the quarterback at the same time, each is awarded half a sack (0.5). This keeps the stats fair — neither player gets full credit when both contributed equally to the play.
📘 Example:
Let’s say Chris Jones and George Karlaftis both hit the QB at the same time. Instead of one player getting all the glory, both are credited with 0.5 sacks.
✅ This is tracked throughout the season. So if a player has 7.5 sacks, that could be 7 solo sacks + 1 shared sack, or 5 solo + 5 shared, etc.
🧠 TL;DR:
A sack = QB tackled before throwing.
Shared sacks = two players team up, each gets 0.5.
Still game-wrecking. Still awesome. 💪
