Trent McDuffieās story is rooted in resilience, focus, and maturity beyond his years. Born in Westminster, California, McDuffie grew up in a tight-knit household led by his mother, Michelle. Tragedy struck early when his older brother, Tyler, passed away from a heart conditionāan event that shaped Trentās outlook on life and football. In his brotherās honor, he now wears jersey #22, a number that represents both memory and motivation.
He began turning heads at St. John Bosco High School, one of the premier football programs in the country. Known for his speed, football IQ, and disciplined technique, McDuffie quickly became a top recruit. He chose the University of Washington, where he would develop into one of the best cornerbacks in the Pac-12. While not the flashiest name in the draft, scouts consistently praised his consistency, humility, and elite fundamentalsātraits that would translate seamlessly to the NFL.
The Chiefs saw his potential and traded up in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft to select him with the 21st overall pick. Since arriving in Kansas City, McDuffie has become a cornerstone of Steve Spagnuoloās defense. His ability to play both outside and in the slot gives the Chiefs tremendous versatility in coverage.
