π Weekly AFC West Recap | The Daily Chief β October 7th, 2025
A shocking Raiders collapse, a milestone Broncos win, and a stumble in Kansas City headline Week 5 across the AFC West.
π« Las Vegas Raiders (1β4)
Final: Colts 40, Raiders 6
Another week, another lopsided loss for Las Vegas. The Raiders were outclassed in every phase as Indianapolis rolled to a 40β6 victory β their most dominant win in over a decade. Jonathan Taylor scored three touchdowns, Daniel Jones tossed two more, and the Coltsβ defense forced multiple turnovers to bury the Raiders early.
Geno Smith finished with 228 yards and two interceptions, while rookie RB Ashton Jeanty continued to be one of the few bright spots (109 total yards). But for the first time in 40 games, the Raiders failed to record a sack β a shocking stat for a team built around Maxx Crosby.
Pete Carroll said afterward that βwe need to change the course,β and itβs clear that time is running out. Chiefs fans wonβt lose sleep over this one β Las Vegas looks lost and undisciplined, and Arrowhead will be waiting.

π§ Denver Broncos (3β2)
Final: Broncos 21, Eagles 17
What a win for Sean Paytonβs crew. The Broncos stunned the defending Super Bowl champs with a furious fourth-quarter comeback to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season.
Bo Nix was outstanding in crunch time, completing 9 of 10 passes for 126 yards in the final quarter, including an 11-yard touchdown strike to Evan Engram. J.K. Dobbins powered the ground game again with 79 yards and a 2-yard touchdown, and Denverβs defense batted down Jalen Hurtsβ last throw of the game to seal it.
Paytonβs 173rd career win moves him past his mentor Bill Parcells, and it may also mark a turning point for Denverβs season. Still, consistency has been their enemy β and the Chiefsβ defense will test just how real this resurgence is.
π΅ Los Angeles Chargers (3β2)
Final: Commanders 27, Chargers 10
After a hot 3β0 start in division play, the Chargers have suddenly cooled off. Washington erased a 10β0 deficit by scoring 27 unanswered points as penalties, turnovers, and pass-protection issues doomed LA for a second straight week.
Justin Herbert was efficient (22-of-29 for 166 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) but constantly under siege, taking four sacks behind a banged-up offensive line. Rookie RB Omarion Hampton was quiet, and Los Angeles committed 10 penalties for 85 yards β a theme that has followed them since the Giants loss.
Itβs a reminder that even with Jim Harbaugh at the helm, the Chargers still struggle with the little things that separate contenders from pretenders. The Chiefs know all too well: this division often comes down to who stays composed in the clutch.
π΄ Kansas City Chiefs (2β3)
Final: Jaguars 31, Chiefs 28
A back-and-forth battle in Jacksonville ended in heartbreak, as the Chiefs fell 31β28 to drop to 2β3 on the season. Patrick Mahomes threw for over 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but a few missed chances and costly penalties proved the difference.
Still, Kansas Cityβs offense looked sharper, and the chemistry between Mahomes and Travis Kelce continues to heat up. The defense will tighten things up β it always does β and as Andy Reid teams have shown year after year, early-season adversity often fuels a late-season run.
